Since our founding, The Fred Harris Daniels Foundation has made a firm commitment to the Worcester, MA service area. We are staunch believers in the power of people to make a better life for themselves and their communities, and in the power of visionary leadership and service. As a family foundation, we want to engage in projects which make an impact on the lives and futures of people who live Worcester. We prefer projects which offer creative solutions to Worcester’s most pressing societal challenges and which, as a result, improve the greater community.

How can a little family foundation make a difference? We are learning how. We are seeing that a disciplined focus, a tireless effort, the encouragement of a champion, the knowledge gained from risking and making mistakes, and smart planning; all of these make it possible for a small funder to make a big impact. And if we can move the needle in one community, we can share the lessons learned and the models developed with other communities around the world.

I invite you to explore more about our programs, mission for the future, partners, and grantees, what kind of work we fund, and more about the foundation’s history. I challenge you to take risks, engage, and become part of the solution to build a Worcester community that has the strength and capacity to solve its most pressing social challenges.
